The natural selection

For a new development of luxury retirement properties in Derbyshire, Forticrete was tasked with seamlessly replicating the natural stone textured finish of the existing 1820s centrepiece building. The build carried a strict requirement by the local planning authority which originally called for the use of natural stone as the new build would sit adjacent to the existing property.

Rising to the challenge, our technical team developed a unique textured ‘masons tooling’, a decorative treatment consisting of small grooves, better known as a ‘Mason’s Drag’. Applied to the face of our Regency Ashlar block, the high quality finish makes it extremely difficult to differentiate between our cast stone and the natural Ashlar Stone it was designed to replicate.

The new Regency Textured Ashlar has now been added as a permanent offering in our popular range of Cast Stone blocks. Boasting the same architectural properties as natural stone at a fraction of the cost, the new range is available in all standard Ashlar sizes and colours, with bespoke sizes and colours available on request.

We manufacture our Regency Ashlar from high grade limestone and sandstone aggregates that have been chosen for their known performance and reliable quality. The cement, pigments and waterproofing agents all conform to their appropriate British or European Standard.
